HistoryEdit

Origins

Kal-El was born on Krypton to Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van. Kal-El genetically designed a dog, named Krypto, to befriend and protect Kal-El. When the Collector of Worlds (Brainiac) arrived on Krypton, Kal-El's parents put him in a prototype rocket and sent him into space, preventing him from dying with the destruction of Krypton. Kal-El's rocket landed in a field in Kansas, where he was found by Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents had been unable to have their own child and when they found the baby in the wreckage they took him in as their own, naming him Clark Kent.

Early Life

Clark was raised on a farm in Smallville, Kansas. As he grew older, Clark developed increbible powers of strength, speed, and heat vision. He met the Legion of Super-heroes, who travelled back in time from the 31st century to meet him. His best friends were Pete Ross and Lana Lang (who he revealed his abilities to). On Clark Kent's Senior Prom night, he danced with Lana Lang. The Kents got into a serious accident and Clark was informed at the dance by the police. When Clark arrived at the scene of the accident, Ma Kent had already died and then Pa was taken to the hospital. Jonathan Kent told Clark he knew he would die and that he wanted to die at home. Clark took his father back to their farm and Mr. Kent told Clark that he wanted him to use his powers for good before he died. After both of his parents passed away, Clark inherited the family farm; however, he was going away to college to become a reporter and gave the farm to Mr. Fry.

Superman

When Clark Kent first arrived in Metropolis, he lived with his friend Jimmy Olsen until he got a job as a reporter a the Daily Star. Clark ordered 200 t-shirts with an S symbol on it and made his debut as a superhero. He stopped Glen Glenmorgan from killing a policewoman and surprised his men when their bullets couldn't hurt him. However, they shot Clark off the building with an RPG and while he was unconscious his cape was stolen by a kid. Clark moved into his own place and met his landlady, Mrs. Nyxly. Clark then saw the kid who had stolen his cape getting hit by his father and saved him from being hit by a train, promising the kid his father would not hurt him again. Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen caught the incident on camera and Lois wrote an article dubbing him Superman.

Superman and the Men of Steel

Action Comics Superman and the Men of Steel

Having been in Metropolis for only six months, Superman was constantly on the run from the police as he tried to fight corruption. As Clark Kent, he fought corruption through the written word as a reporter for the Daily Star, often targeting the corrupt Glen Glenmorgan.

Becoming worried of Superman's growing powers, General Samuel Lane hired Dr. Lex Luthor to capture him. Lex laid a trap for Superman and captured the alien, taking him away to a government facility for study. Once there Superman was put through all types of torture in an attempt to discover his weaknesses. However, Superman was able to distract Luthor and break out of his bonds and then escape. When Inspector Black searched Clark Kent's apartment, his landlady Mrs. Nyxly found Clark's Superman cape and discovered his secret. Clark was given a lead on Glenmorgan at the Factory for Tomorrow by a mysterious informant. Once there, the factory was hijacked by the Collector of Worlds, and terminauts were created to collect artifacts and destroy Earth. Superman fought the robots and was then attacked by a new foe, John Corben, who had been fused with a Metal-Zero suit. Corben was under the control of the Collector and had the advantage until John Henry Irons arrived in his own suit and defeated Corben. However, in the aftermath a huge part of Metropolis had been shrunken and bottled by the Collector. Superman could still see the Collector's ship with his super-vision and after putting on a breathing apparatus he ran incredibly fast and leaped into the atmosphere. Once on the Collector's ship, the robots attempted to make him a part of the collection without success. Superman found the bottled city of Metropolis as well as Kandor and was confronted by the Collector of Worlds. The Collector tested Superman by shutting off life support in Metropolis and Kandor, then tried to make him choose which one to save. Superman refused to make a choice and smashed a case containing Kryptonian armor, then he put it on and attacked the Collector. John Corben was fused with the Collector and his emotions began to confuse the Collector. Superman obtained his Kryptonian rocket (still shrunken) and flicked it like a bullet into the Collector's brain. The rocket's invulnerable crystal computer system took control of the Collector system and Superman used it to return Metropolis to normal. In the aftermath, Clark Kent confronted Mrs. Nyxly about his secret and she promised not to reveal it. Superman was given the key to the city and accepted by Metropolis. Superman also used the Collector's ship as a new Fortress of Solitude.

K-Man

Once when Superman stopped a crane from crashing down on a crowd, he was attacked by Clay Ramsey he dropped the crane. Ramsey now called himself K-Man and was able to release a blast of kryptonite energy and harm Superman, showing his weakness. Before K-Man could finish off Superman, John Henry Irons arrived and knocked K-Man aside. He gave Superman a hazmat suit to protect him from the radiation and this gave Superman the edge to beat K-Man, who had expended most of his energy. Superman told Irons he should take a superhero name and join him in the fight against crime. However, Irons wanted to help in different ways, bringing technology to places all over the world that needed it.

Justice League

Justice League Origin

When Darkseid and his Parademons attacked Earth, a Parademon set off a Mother Box in Metropolis, causing an explosion and started putting out a signal. Batman and Green Lantern arrived to ask Superman if he knew anything about the demons and they ended up getting into a fight. They were soon joined by the Flash and were able to explain that they were not there to fight. Superman knew nothing of the demons and said that one had attacked Metropolis. Soon the Mother Boxes activated and created Boom Tubes that allowed Parademons through. The heroes were joined by Aquaman, Cyborg, and Wonder Woman in fighting the demons and Darkseid. Superman ended up getting hit by one of the beams from Darkseid's eyes and was taken by the demons. Darkseid's plans for Superman was to make him into a new type a soldier to aid him in his search for his daughter. Batman rescued Superman and with the help of the others they sent Darkseid back to his world. After defeating Darkseid, Superman joined the others in forming the Justice League. In the early days of the Justice League, Superman became frustrated at the League's lack of action in helping solve the world's problems.

Bulletproof

Nimrod the Hunter was hired to kill Superman and tracked his early appearances to Kansas, figuring out his secret identity. Nimrod then travelled to Metropolis and tracked Clark Kent, waiting for an opportunity to kill him. While talking to his friends, Jimmy and Lois, Clark noticed a commotion at the Daily Star and ran to investigate. There he found Angus Grundig with explosives strapped to his chest. Grundig was angry at the paper for ruining his life and detonated the explosives with Clark in the building. The next day, Nimrod visited Kent's apartment and asked Mrs. Nyxly where Clark was. She told him that Clark died the day before, which shocked Nimrod. Superman arrived and confronted Nimrod, telling him that he is not Clark Kent. Nimrod shot Superman with a rocket and was injured in the blast. Superman then told Mrs. Nyxly that Clark Kent is dead and that he will explain later.

Superman took on a new secret identity, that of firefighter Johnny Clark. During this time he defeated an alien robot called Metalek. After a week under his new identity, Superman met with Batman and discussed his regret at letting his old identity die. He had felt guilty at accepting a position at the Daily Planet and compromised after Batman discovered his identity as well as Nimrod. Batman told him to leave his problem with him. A firetruck with Johnny Clark on it was hijacked by another Metalek and it almost hit Lois Lane and her niece Susie. Lois pushed Susie out of the way and was hit by the truck while a man called Adam killed the Metalek. Superman tried to stop Adam, who was after Susie; however, Adam attacked his mind and made the crowd around the area attack Superman. Susie refused to go with Adam, wanting to save Lois and Superman emptied his mind (Adam's telepathy only works on a conscious mind) then attacked Adam. Adam retaliated by pointing a gun that shoots psychic bullets at Superman, but Susie used her powers to blind Adam. Adam, defeated, returned to his ship and Superman took Lois to the hospital. In order to save Lois, Superman sped read a library of medical books in order to perform the necessary operations himself. In the aftermath, Johnny Clark was determined to have been vaporized in the battle. After Clark's "death", many of his friends and fellow news reporters gathered at Swan's Tavern to honor Clark Kent at his passing. Batman met Superman and suggested that he find a way to bring Clark Kent back to life. Superman returned to his old apartment as Clark Kent and Mrs. Nyxly told him no one would believe his story and that the only way to get him out of the mess was for her to make everyone forget that Clark Kent died. She revealed that she is really, Nyxlygsptlnz, a being part of a mathematical dimension sent to his dimension to help him.

Anti-Superman Army

Action Comics Bulletproof

Nimrod the Hunter shot Superman in the head with a teleport rifle under Vyndktvx's direction. The Legion of Super-Heroes arrived to take Superman back in time to stop the Anti-Superman Army from stealing Kryptonite from his rocket. Superman arrived with the Legion and found they were too late. The Legion of Super-Heroes brought Superman back to this point since without the engine the rocket would die and the Collector AI would be released and destroy Earth. They were attacked by Erik Drekken and they managed to subdue him back to his human form and then Saturn Girl learned by telepathy that Nimrod teleported the Anti-Superman Army that Vyndktvx brought together using a teleport rifle to fire a microscopic lead-pellet filled with tesseract space into Superman's brain. The Legionnaires used their time bubble to infiltrate Vyndktvx's meeting under disguise and defeated him, but left a piece of Kryptonite in his brain. With Superman suffering from radiation poisoning, Drekken attacked and using the last of his strength, Superman broke free and used his hand to save the rocket with the radiation. The Legionnaires then returned with the Kryptonite and took the unconscious Superman back to his time.

At the End of Days

Action Comics At the End of Days

Dr. Raymond Palmer helped Superman catalogue the artifacts that he recovered from the bottled city of Kandor. On Halloween, he had finished the catalogue and while examining a Phantom Zone projector Dr. Xa-Du trapped Superman in the Phantom Zone and gained his freedom. While there he met his dog, Krypto, and the Phantom Stranger, who showed him how to escape and return Xa-Du to the Zone. He promised Krypto that he would get him out and then put Xa-Du back in the Zone. Afterwards, he managed to save Krypto and got him out of the Zone. The Legion of Super-Heroes arrived and Saturn Woman told Superman he would have to go to Mars next before his big battle with Vyndktvx.

Later, Superman heard a faint cry for help from Mars and rushed to see what was happening. On Mars, Acheron Base was being torn apart by the Metaleks and Superman went out to stop them, recovering the lost astronauts. Then, the Multitude arrived and started devouring the Metaleks and everything else. Superman was forced to take cover in the dome and he came up with an idea to attack the Multitude as a whole by attacking the weapon in the fifth dimension. They used the Terraforming Array to generate a scalar field extending into the fifth dimension by running 10 gigawatts of power through Superman and into the machine. This defeated the Multitude and outside they another man, who turned out to be Vyndktvx, the man behind the attack. Vyndktvx killed the astronauts and warned Superman that he would be Superman’s downfall.

Superman was attacked by Xa-Du and knocked to Earth. Superman told Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen to find Mr. Triple X at Metropolis General Hospital. Lois saw her niece, Susie Tompkins, floating nearby and Susie explained that Superman was in trouble, that she had connected Superman's mind to every suffering mind in the world because she had made a deal with Vyndktvx that he could use her mind if he spared her parents. Vyndktvx delivered a message to Metropolis, telling the people that they would get eternal life in his kingdom as long as they refused to help Superman. The Anti-Superman Army chased Superman, knowing that his powers were reduced after Vyndktvx turned the sun red. Susie had the ability to track Superman's thoughts and Superman ran into a tesseract mine that triggered a predatory environment. Superman escaped into the sewers, but was confronted by Erik Drekken and used his heat-vision to heat the boilers and cause an explosion. Superman went to his Yucatan base and called the Legion of Super-Heroes, Comet and the Wanderers, and Krypto for help. However, the Anti-Superman Army soon caught Superman. K-Man Green and Red used their abilities to poison Superman and alter his perceptions. K-Man Blue prepared to use his radiation to kill Superman's spirit, but Krypto arrived to save him. Vyndktvx arrived with a Kryptonite chain and they used it to capture Krypto. Xa-Du chained Superman with Kryptonite and threw him into the ground and Superdoom arrived to attack Superman. Superdoom slammed the weakened Superman into the ground over and over again, trying to kill him and some citizens pulled the chain off Superman. Mr. Triple X awoke in the hospital and the Legion of Super-Heroes arrived to help. Superdoom continued to fight Superman and Lex Luthor arrived in a suit as he wanted Superman to die at his hands only. However, Superdoom destroyed the suit and found it empty though it gave Superman a distraction so he could fight back. K-Man Red used her powers to give Superman hallucinations and he saw Vyndktvx taunting him. The Legion of Super-Heroes arrived and used time bubble in Vyndktvx's face like a pie to buy Superman time. Captain Comet and the Wanderers also arrived and defeated the K-Men and saved Krypto. Captain Comet stopped Xa-Du and Erik Drekken evolved into a neosapien and joined the Wanderers along with Susie. Superman figured out that Vyndktvx was limited by his way of attacking all at once and with his connection to everyone he told them to all say their names backwards and sent Vyndktvx back to the 5th dimension. Superdoom's armor entered self-destruct mode and Superman used all his strength to launch it into space. Superman then saw Mrs. Nyxly, who hadn't died but had used her blood to hide in the red of Superman's cape. Mrs. Nyxly told him she had one more wish and that it had to involve the color red, so Superman had her restore the Mars Colony Project and the people living in it. While time was still fixing itself, Superman saw his Pa back in Smallville, just before he passed away and was able to let him know that he was doing a lot to help others and that he was happy.

Star Light, Star Bright

While the Justice League fought off an alien army, Superman’s team members pointed out that he had somewhere he needed to be and that they could take care of the threat. Superman went to the Hayden Planetarium, which he had been visiting every 382 days, trying to get a glimpse of Rao, the sun Krypton orbited. This time, they coordinated almost every telescope on Earth to scan this area and got a glimpse of Krypton, as it is 27 light-years away. This allowed Superman to witness Krypton’s destruction that occurred 27 years earlier.

Hybrid

In Qurac, Lois Lane was able to get a interview with a rebel leader and in celebration she asked Clark Kent to drink with her. However, Clark was drawn away by a contact and he left Lois alone. Clark had been warned of a weapon smuggling ring and as Superman he went to investigate and the crates of the cargo ships gave way to giant robots controlled by humans. The mechs shot at Superman with rail guns and so he destroyed one and found that the pilot was American. The others continued to shoot at Superman and so he destroyed all of the machines. Superman went to question the first pilot and saw that he appeared to have changed into Jimmy Olsen and then all of the pilots spontaneously combusted due to thermite implants.

Three weeks later, while flying over Metropolis, Superman noticed an infection in his hand (caused by Lex Luthor) that was transforming him into something monstrous. Superman woke up under the care of Dr. Shay Veritas, who explained that she had teleported him to her facility in order to keep his infection from spreading to others. Superman's body had fought off the infection, forcing it out of his body so that a monstrous hand was left behind. While examining the hand which had combined with his DNA, the hand came alive and grabbed Superman be the neck and then grew into a monstrous figure. Dr. Veritas stopped it by activating a red light that acted as a red sun and weakened the creature as well as Superman. The weakened Superman told her to deactivate it and then he used his freeze breath to freeze the hybrid and shatter it. However, the virus had spread to some of the citizens of Metropolis and so Superman went after them and sealed them underground for quarantine. The mutants fused into one and escaped to attack Superman. Superman submerged the hybrid to deprive it of oxygen and it split back into the infected people. Dr. Veritas teleported a red sunlight device to weaken the creature and told Superman he needed to get out of there. However, Lex Luthor arrived in a warsuit and began attacking the weakened Superman with the intent of evicting him from Earth. Lois was recording everything on her phone and Superman told her to get the infected citizens to safety and then she dropped her phone. Superman ripped the jetpack off Luthor's suit to help him fly and flew into the sun to regain his strength before returning to Earth and knocking Luthor unconscious. The police arrived and Superman flew away before they could arrest him and Lois explained Luthor's guilt. The next day, Lois and Jimmy met with Clark Kent, who presented Lois with her phone that he had found on the river shore. Jon Carroll then arrived and picked Lois, leaving Clark feeling rejected.

What Price Tomorrow?

Superman What Price Tomorrow

The Daily Planet building was demolished and replaced by a new Daily Planet after being bought by Morgan Edge. Clark Kent was not happy about the changes and the Planet becoming a part of the Planet Global Network. Lois was made head of the TV and digital division of PGN and she offered Clark her old job as news anchor, which he refused. Superman went after a hijacked tanker truck, but when he lifted it into the air, the Astrodome erupted in flames and blew up the tanker. An alien being made of flames began attacking Superman and Superman fought back with his arctic breath. Superman picked up the old Daily Planet's giant globe and hurled it at the creature so that it focused all of its energy on the globe while Superman could get close to the source and fly the creature into space. Without oxygen, the fire dissipated. Clark wrote an article on Superman's story for the Daily Planet and then went to Lois to apologize. However, Lois had Jonathan Carroll over in celebration of her ratings and so a dejected Clark left.

While examining a star map in a military base, Superman was visited by General Lane, who revealed that the fire-being couldn't be alien and that it was either from Earth or had been their for a very long time. General Lane was also concerned that Superman attracted enemies and that it put Lois in danger. While flying over Metropolis, Superman was attacked by an invisible assailant that made him crash through a blimp. Superman tried to save the blimp, but kept on running into the attacker. Jimmy Olsen and Miko Ogawa were filming the action and then Lois realized that Superman couldn't see the attacker even though they could and told them to keep the cameras on the creature. Superman was able to use the video to see the attacker and rescue the blimp. Superman then threw the creature into an electronics store so that he was surrounded by televisions. Superman defeated the monster and after it muttered an alien language along with the word Krypton, it disappeared. Later, in his Fortress of Solitude, Superman got a message from Lois telling him that he could always rely on her and that he didn't have to feel alone.

Perry White called Clark Kent, who was at the Smallville cemetery, and reminded him that he was supposed to be at a video shoot with Heather Kelley. Clark rushed off and made excuses that he was stuck in traffic. In Hob's Bay, Heather, Jimmy Olsen, and Miko Ogawa were waiting for Clark at his old apartment to do a piece on the effects of the City of Tomorrow Renovations on affordable middle class housing and they decided to go on without him. Suddenly, their was an ice storm in Hob's Bay and a news chopper found Superman flying in it. Everything the storm touched turned into ice, including the citizens. Superman saw that at the middle there was an ice being and below that was Heather surrounded by some sort of stasis field. Without any other choice, he blasted her with heat vision and as she began to wince in pain the alien disappeared and the city unfroze completely as if nothing happened. Superman awoke in a hole with Jimmy and Miko standing over him and Heather missing.

Superman was being interrogated by Lt. Casey, who blamed Superman for Heather's disappearance. However, Heather reappeared on Bill McCoy's talk show and explained that Superman had saved her. Commissioner Corporon barged in and announced that the Mayor ordered that Superman be left alone and so he flew away. Lois Lane called Clark Kent and asked why he claimed to be in Metropolis when he was in Smallville during Heather's piece and Clark admitted that he was visiting his parents' graves and had forgotten about the appointment. Clark decided to visit Heather and apologize and when he arrived on set he heard her cover for him by saying he wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. After the show, Heather met Clark and lead him away and then he suddenly found himself at his old apartment site in his Superman suit along with the alien creatures he had encountered in the past couple weeks. Superman attacked and the creatures decided to recalibrate Superman and he was swarmed by mechanical insects. The next morning, the reporters and police were attracted to a cyclone of fire and ice over Hob's Bay and even McCoy, who was afraid of heights, rode in the chopper. Superman was at the center of the cyclone and he absorbed it into his body. Superman crashed to the ground and delivered Heather, the hobo, and the security guard so that they could get medical attention. Superman then broke into a military warehouse and destroyed some robots that had previously attacked the city. Superman also broke into a lab and destroyed Titano and other mutants. Later, Superman also went after the Sky Raiders and froze them to death.

Superman went after Billy McCoy in anger at his anti-Superman broadcasts and lifted him up and dropped him. Somewhere in space, the real Superman woke up after hearing Lois Lane's calls. Supergirl arrived in Metropolis just in time to save McCoy and then the fake Superman began attacking her. Superman was able to use his link to the fake to figure out the imposter was from Jazuur. The people of Jazuur used nanite technology to keep everything in balance and the tech was captured in a jar when the Collector of Worlds collected their imperial city. The Collector was interested in the nanites' ability to reconstruct itself and wanted to incorporate it into his own system. However, the technology was incompatable with the Collector and the jar exploded. When Superman got his suit while attacking the Collector, a nanite that had survived was affixed to the suit and came back with him to Earth. Superman returned to stop the nanite technology from killing Supergirl and dragged it away from Metropolis into the Arctic so that the military jets wouldn't attack. Superman realized the nanites had assimilated his heat vision and had used a host to create the fire creature, his x-ray vision and super-hearing and then used a host to create the invisible creature, and his arctic breath and then used a host to create the ice creature. Superman then destroyed the fake Superman and then Supergirl helped him dispose of the nanites in the sun. Later, Clark Kent went to the hospital to apologize to Heather.

Secrets and Lies

Superman Secrets and Lies

A robot with alien technology began attacking Metropolis and Superman took it down. Superman flew off as the S.T.A.R. Labs unit arrived to take the robot for study. The robot belonged to Helspont, who decided that he would make Superman serve him. At the Daily Planet, Superman was bombarded by Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White and inadvertently agreed to allow Jimmy to stay at his place and to pick up Lois' sister Lucy in the morning while agreeing to put more Superman material in his article for Perry. At S.T.A.R. Labs, the drone woke up and escaped to attack the Daily Planet and find Superman. Clark changed into his Superman suit and after he pushed the drone out of the Daily Planet, he was teleported to the Himalayas outside a temple. Superman entered the temple and met Helspont, who asked him to join him. After Helspont blasted him with something, Superman saw a future where Superman was hunted by the Justice League but then his body realized something was wrong and rejected the creature that Helspont shot into him and then woke up to reality. Helspont said he had given Superman a glimpse of the future and explained that he was once ruler over the Daemonite hordes and had conquered many planets, but was then imprisoned by his own people out of fear. Helspont asked Superman to help him and in exchange he would be allowed to rule Earth. Superman declined and so Helspont began threatening him by showing his power. They fought until finally Superman sent Helspont hurtling into his base and when Superman checked it out he found a crater with no sign of Helspont. Clark returned to his apartment and found Jimmy waiting outside and was informed that he had "forgotten" to pick up Lucy as well.

Superman heard a distress signal in the Bering Strait and rescued a Russian submarine. Superman returned the sub to Russian waters and was told to leave by the captain. Clark Kent returned to the Daily Planet and was chastised by Lois for not picking up her sister, Lucy. Clark told her he didn't know he was supposed to and Lois told him that he would have to make up for it by paying for dinner that evening at an expensive restaurant. Clark then saw a girl who robbed the bank on the news and decided he better go after her. Superman confronted the girl, calling herself Anguish, and found he was unable to touch her or use his heat vision on her and that she can still hit him. On the news, Victor identified a man named Spence Becker as Superman. Anguish tried to explain that the locket was hers and contained the only existing picture of her mother and that her stepfather had taken if from her and locked it away. Superman grabbed the locket, trying to get her to stop, and she smashed him into the pavement and inadvertently smashed the locket too. Hearing the news, Anguish decided to go after Becker's family in revenge. Lois and Jimmy confronted Superman and asked for the truth and he denied the secret identity and flew off to save Becker's family. Anguish arrived at Becker's house and Superman arrived to stop her. He gave her the locket, which he had fixed, and that subdued her. Superman tried to convince Anguish to go to S.T.A.R. Labs to seek help, but Anguish just disappeared. Becker arrived to disprove the rumor of his identity.

Clark Kent went to dinner to make up for not picking Lucy Lane up and was surprised that Jonathan Carroll was also there as Lois Lane's date. Clark soon learned that Jon was a decent man and that Lucy was very different from her sister. Lois told Clark to show Lucy around the city and Lucy said she wanted to see Bogdanove Bridge and go bungee jumping. Morgan Edge was at the same restaurant and got into an argument with Lois over the ethics of his misinformed broadcast about Superman's identity. All at once, the reporters got a message that Russia had mobilized it's military and that a town with a nuclear facility had lost power. They all left and Clark apologized to Lucy, promising to make up for it and didn't think about the fact that he had left her with the bill. Superman broke into a Russian facility and found many dead Russians and an empty alien pod. Superman watched video records and learned the pod had been picked up by the submarine he had saved earlier and watched as the pod opened and the feed was destroyed. Superman was surrounded by Russian military and when they learned he spoke Russian, an agent named Ivan told him that the Russians had been looking for a rival of Superman that they could control. They had found the creature in the pod after looking into an alternate dimension and it had opened a portal in the Bering Strait. The creature wouldn't agree to work for the Russians and had killed everyone and was attracted to the nuclear facility. Superman explored the town and found all it's citizens dead and was then attacked by an extremely fast alien with strange weapons that soon knocked him unconscious. Superman woke up and saw that the alien was opening a portal and so he broke free to stop it from bringing more of its kind. Meanwhile, the Russian government ordered a nuclear missile to be dropped on the town. Superman stopped the portal from opening and ripped the alien's helmet off. The alien wasn't able to breathe and gave Superman a cylinder that allowed him to understand the creature. Superman returned the helmet after learning the alien needed it to breathe and the alien explained that he had opened the portal to return home. Superman refused to let him escape, believing that the alien should answer for his murders, but the alien opened a portal and escaped as Superman was forced to escape the blast of the nuclear missile. Superman then returned to talk with Ivan and told him the alien escaped and that he had found their research facility and that it had been destroyed. Later, Clark went to Lois Lane's apartment and told Lucy he was going to take her bungee jumping and they both jumped off the bridge together.

Clark Kent was regretting letting Jimmy Olsen stay at his place as he is a slob and it made hiding his identity as Superman harder. Clark left for work, slamming the door so that Jimmy would wake up and be on time. Clark noticed that everyone was looking upwards and saw a giant alien spaceship and used his x-ray vision to see that it was controlled by Helspont, who knows that he is watching. Clark changes into his Superman suit and was met by Helspont once he was in space. Helspont reminded Superman that though he was Earth's strongest protector he was no match for Helspont's power and hit him into the moon. Superman tried to get up but had received a concussion and collapsed. Superman awoke in a ship with Grifter and the ship was soon breached by an alien named Biomass. Superman knocked Biomass into space and sealed the hole in Grifter's ship with his heat vision. Superman punched Biomass through Helspont's ship and faced Helspont once again. Helspont mocked him and had his men kill all the Daemonite agents on Earth. Helspont told Superman about his past and how he gained his powers and how he had discovered Earth and a metagen within the humans that could evolve and become the salvation of the Daem. Helspont had returned to gain control over the restless Daemonites and told Superman he had no desire to destroy Earth. Helspont told Superman that he should continue to protect "his" people and after giving hint that he know Jor-El he left.

Powers and Abilities

Kryptonian Physiology: Superman's cellular structure is more dense, resilient and biologically more effective than human tissue. Strangely enough, he does not seem to possess superhuman strength levels despite his enhanced cellular ability without his cellular structure charged with yellow solar energy. Without such charging, his strength seems on par for a human of his height and weight who engages in regular physical activity. As an alien he possesses several organs whose functions are not yet disclosed or understood but are believed to be part of and perhaps even the source of his biomatrix force field and reclamation aura. Superman's body also stores energy actively within his bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to his body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of Superman's electromagnetic capabilities such as flight and heat vision. Superman's body also stores energy actively within his bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to his body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of Superman's electromagnetic capabilities such as flight and heat vision.

Solar Energy Absorption: Technically, this is the main source of Superman's powers. Because Superman's powers are greatly due to exposure to Earth's yellow sun, his powers have been affected by extreme absorptions of solar power, whether voluntary or involuntary. However, Superman has used this to his advantage in battle in many instances, and to his detriment at certain times.
Superhuman Strength: The exact magnitude of Superman's strength is unknown. This is because Superman's strength, like his other powers, has fluctuated over time, however, his strength should effortlessly range into the multi-megaton level at the very least. While the exact magnitude of Superman's strength is unknown, it is generally accepted that his strength easily surpasses the capacity to lift 1,000,000 tons, but how much more is not known exactly.
Invulnerability: Superman's body is nigh-invulnerable. This ability's levels have changed over time. Having been more vulnerable to physical injury early in his life. Currently he is even more durable than in the past. In addition, his immune system protects him from all toxins and diseases. The most common explanations for his invulnerability are Superman having a super-dense molecular structure and/or a supercharged bio electric "aura" which acts as an invisible "force field" around his body within a few millimeters from his skin, and presumably within his body as well. The proximity of this field to his skin means that loose clothes, for example, may be burned off of him, while cloth that is close to his body is protected by the "aura;" This phenomenon is sometimes cited as Superman's reason for wearing a skin-tight bodysuit. It is sometimes implied that he can unconsciously extend this field to an undetermined extent to protect a greater area, allowing him to carry huge objects within the Earth's atmosphere and without gravity or inertia tearing them apart around his human-sized hands.
Superhuman Stamina: Superman has the ability to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an undefined period. Theoretically, most incarnations of the character has unlimited stamina as his enhanced nourishment is produced from the solar energy his cells process. Superman like other Kryptonians does not get tired and does not need to eat or sleep and can be sustained on Solar energy alone. He can also hold his breath for an undefined duration.
Flight: Superman's power of flight have developed gradually during his life with him being incapable of flight early in his career, and often used super leaps as a a substitute for flying. He tends to fly at speeds of Mach 10 in the atmosphere. His control of his flight is perfect and he can perform aerobatic feats such as hovering, flying backwards and even lifting great weights while flying. Superman has the ability to fly in outer space.
Superhuman Speed: Superman is capable of enhanced reflex action and the ability to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. While not nearly as fast as the Flash (Wally West), Superman can match most other speedsters in their ability to perform super fast movements, reactions, and processes. He can use this power to disarm opponents with or without heightened reflexes, catch bullets or shrapnel or cross vast distances in seconds. Superman can also run at incredible speeds and even keep up with most speedsters.
Superhuman Hearing: The ability to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. The only Earth creature who can detect sounds at the frequency he can is a blue whale (0.01-200,000 Hz). He has shown enough control to block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source/frequency. He can hear every single heartbeat, as well as the blood pumping through everyone's veins, hear every foot step, every cell phone signal as it lances through the air and more. He can identify a person by their heartbeat, or pick out a single voice in an entire world.
Super Smell: On various occasions, Superman has demonstrated that his sense of smell is significantly enhanced to the point he can smell odours across the entire planet without any problem.
Super Scream: In one instance, Superman was shown to have the ability to project a "super scream" from his vocal cords. He used this ability to cancel out the impending threat of an already exploding nuclear detonation.
Self-Sufficiency: Doesn't need to eat and sleep so long as he's under the effects of yellow sun radiation. His body stores the energy necessary to negate eating and sleeping for an indefinite period.
Healing Factor: In the extreme event that Superman is harmed, either by an alien matching his own strength or other occurence, he has been shown to have the ability to heal almost instantaneously from any wound, assuming that the process is not impeded from some outside factor i.e. Kryptonite. This "healing factor" is supplemented by his stores of solar energy and also seems to be an unconscious ability, as Superman does not seem to have the ability to control when he heals and when he doesn't. Much like a human has no control over their immune system.
Super Breath: The ability to create hurricane force winds by blowing, and to chill his breath in order to freeze a target (this latter ability has also been called "freeze breath" and "arctic breath"). The ability to chill inhaled air is a function of Superman's great strength and invulnerability. When Superman takes air into his lungs they compress the incoming gas. When this gas expands upon exhalation, in a fashion analogous to the operation of an air conditioners compressor, the sudden increase in volume of the gas causes its temperature to drop proportionally to the size of this expansion. Superman can also breathe in large amounts of air, an ability used when dealing with and disposing things like clouds of poison gas.
Heat Vision: The ability to fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it with the conscious act of activating this power. Visually, the power is typically depicted as two beams of red light firing from his eyes. These beams can be made invisible, allowing Superman to work undetected. The area of effect can be consciously determined by Superman, down to the microscopic level. Recent stories imply the precision is so exact it can bypass a target's outer shell (not causing damage to a person's skull for surgical purposes)[336].
Super Vision: He also possess a superior sensory arrangement of microscopic, telescopic, infrared and ultraviolet visual capabilities. He is able to see the entire spectrum. STAR Laboratories has not been able to complete define how Superman has been able to utilize his powerful senses, part of the mechanism is physical, part of it is believed to be psionic in nature. Abilities include:
  • Electro-magnetic Spectrum Vision:Superman can see into all of the EM Spectrum. He can see and identify radio/television and any and all broadcast/transmitted frequencies, allowing him to avoid detection through radar or satellite monitoring methods. Superman can see the aura that every living thing generates.
  • Telescopic Vision: The ability to focus his vision to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics.
  • Microscopic Vision: The ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the sub atomic level.
  • X-Ray Vision: The ability to see through anything except lead. Opponents sometimes used lead-lined constructs in an attempt to hide things from Superman. He can see things behind a wall as if the wall were not there, or can "peel back" layer after layer of matter in his mind. Kal-El is able to focus his vision past layers of matter, literally seeing "through" them -- possibly perceiving x-rays, cosmic rays or other forms of energy invisible to normal human vision which pass through Earth's atmosphere (and solid objects) after emission from stars. Since it is passive, this ability would not generate harmful radiation in the same manner as a focused projection of hard X-rays.
  • Solar Flare:By expelling all of his solar reserves and energy stored in his body, Kal-El can create a powerful blast that is capable of incinerating everything within a quarter mile. Visually, the power is depicted as a yellow half-circle. currently Clark has no control of this new ability, so to surmise. Superman essentially detonates like a bomb according to Batman.
